Harry Nilsson - Many Rivers To Cross

I can’t but help think about this song in the passing of my friend Anne Winter. She was a mentor to me in starting The Record Machine. She owned one of my favorite record stores of all time called Recycled Sounds. I released my first 3 records at the store. The first of which was 6 years ago almost to the day. Now 6 years later I am releasing a record that is extremely special to me and can’t help but think of her influence. If I didn’t have that influence how much of a different a label Record Machine would be today.

She inspired me personally in so many different musical purchases that I can’t even imagine what my taste would be if I hadn’t met her. I think of all the Tom Waits records that I purchased amongst many other classics. I got into so much thru Recycled Sounds. I was terribly sad when it closed and even more impacted now. There will never be that again in KC. She was such a genuine person that cared for anyone that she had met. She will be missed by everyone that knew her.

I feel like I am inadequate in my words and Tim Finn over at the Star has a great piece about when Recycled Sounds closed.
