Song of the Day: Chairlift - I Belong in Your Arms
I listened to this album yesterday on Spotify and was totally blown away how much more mature and evolved the new material sounded. They have so much more to offer then just being the one hit wonder that did an Ipod commercial back in 2008. They deserve the respect and the hype with this new record.
Chairlift - I Belong in Your Arms
When I close my eyes when I’m listening to this record, I’m transported back to my dad’s car parked in the driveway, enclosed in my little 8-year-old bubble listening to Top 40 radio, jamming out, pretending to cruise around driving his station wagon to the beach. I’m completely infatuated with it. Their new Something LP is definitely one of my favorite releases this year.
Aside: what’s with delivering the MP3s two weeks before the vinyl? You’d figure they’d do it the other way around…
“I Belong In Your Arms,” the latest single from Brooklyn duo Chairlift, is a bouncy 80’s romp that should set your week off to a great and a very cool start.
It’s the alternative single of the week over at iTunes, so head on over and grab a free(!) download while you still can.

Video of the Day: Small Stories: a film by Nate Johnson and The Buried Beds.
Gorgeous cinematography and music combo here!
Small Stories: a film by Nate Johnson and The Buried Beds.
All of us holed up on a wintery, snowy Saturday might do good to take 30 minuntes this afternoon to watch this gorgeous, idyllic film about a group of friends playing music in some of the most picturesque spots around Philadelphia on a perfect summer day. From the top of Lemon Hill to a backyard BBQ with sparklers, set to the lovely psych folk tunes - perfect escapism.

Song of the Day Part 2: Bear in Heaven - Reflection of You
Two bands I love showing off that they can pull off great follow ups makes me quite excited. This time around Bear in Heaven is taking a synthy approach with some more lightness. I like the new tones and I can wait to hear this album either.

yvynyl: An Indie Label in 2012.
This might be one of the best things I have read so far this year. Makes me feel better about the way that I run my label and the things that we accomplish without feeling the need to poach bands.
Read this piece late last night on my phone before bed and dreamt about stacks of vinyls as tall as the sky. But seriously, I repost this in full because Captured Tracks’ founder Mike Sniper’s got some great, eloquent points here. I think this a valuable, must-read piece for all music nerds,…
